Venus observatory design

This is the design for our Venus observatory. The design is inspired by the path of Venus in relation to the path of the Earth and there are some more geeky details, all to be made clear once we have actually built it! But most importantly – it will allow multiple people to look at Venus in front of the sun. Designed by Jonah, Chris, Nathan, Bastien, Rich and Marije.

Rotating wall

Random Landrover parts come in handy after all – useful for making rotating window walls. Now all we need is the window.

Fönster fail

The friggebod features three windows. So we ordered three windows. Standard sizes for speedy delivery. We ordered them july 2012. We got them this week. One was broken. One opened when it shouldn’t. One was the wrong colour and doesn’t open when it should. FAIL.

Nice white door, matches the wooden window so well. Ehrm, how do you get in?

Cracked frame … so no window for our epic view …

But lots of fresh air …

And this lovely window will open into the fins (once we finish them).

Observation station

Bastien, the astronomer, is helping us design and decide a location for the Venus transit observatory / monument, after having given us a private tour at the planetarium; very cool…
